School dinners

Lee Brig School, Infant Schools Wakefield, Outstanding Schools Wakefield

From September 2014 all pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state funded schools in England are eligible for free school meals (FSM).

91% children at Lee Brigg Infant School eat a hot school meal every day.

Our school meals are provided by Engie.

Please see our newsletter for the weekly menu.

Food is high on the curriculum agenda and we do a great deal of work in school to encourage children to lead healthy lifestyles and make healthy food choices. We are confident that our healthy school meals promote good choices to children.

Each morning during registration, children select their dinner choice from the menu. Choices are recorded and lunches are cooked to order. We encourage parents to review the options daily with children. This can be done before school at the menu board in the playground. Termly menus are provided, please see Mrs Armitage for a copy.

Parents may still choose to provide a packed lunch if they do not want their child to eat a free school meal. We ask that parents give their full support and ensure that lunchboxes reflect healthy choices. Fizzy pop, sweets, chocolate bars and fruit cordials (drinks) are not permitted.
